What’s in a Name?
(and to finish the quote….)
“That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet”
You’ll recognise this quote from Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet”, which has had many outings since it was first written down in 1597 (413 years!), but is recently most applicable to the often costly purchase of a domain name.
But is it really necessary to have a keyword rich, blah blah blah, domain for your online business? Well, SEO wise, not always – good content, good linking, etc, will get you up there in the SERPs, whethere your domain is “keywordhere.com” or not.
But the advantage to owning domains that make it into record books and get blogged about and discussed on the news, is that it automatically gets free advertising. Even if people aren’t going to buy or use the services offered on the site, they’re certainly going to have a look – and despite paying $14million for www.sex.com they’ve just redirected it to a portal page!
