Rupert Murdoch and Google

Rupert Murdoch has announced that they have plans to have their content indexed only by the search engines that are willing to pay for it.

Rupert Murdoch is one of the Web’s major publishers and have been in contact with Microsoft about getting their content exclusively available through Bing.

What annoys me most about this is that it will surely fail. There is no way that Google will fall in line and start paying for news articles. Companies like Rupert Murdoch and Microsoft continually fail to completely grasp the power of the Internet and online content. There is simply no longer a need for crappy newspapers anymore, The thousands (millions?) of blogs out there provide better, more accurate and easier content.

It’s an underhanded approach by Microsoft who have continually and repeatedly failed to get a search engine that makes money. Bing and Rupert Murdoch are well and truly off my Xmas card list.
