China bans personal domain registration

China has just the registration for domains for personal use. From this week onwards only businesses and approved organisations will be allowed to buy domain names. This move is quite significant as it shows China is now fighting against websites that promote illegal content and websites that are used for illegal purposes like hacking or stealing money.

China has nearly 300 million internet users and their activities are monitored quite heavily. This is just another step towards making the online world safer for everyone. Individuals are still allowed to register domains however this now has to be done in person to ensure accuracy.
